For anyone looking for alternate applications I and found two
excellent apps: gSyncIt
(http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/) and iCal4OL
(http://ical.gutentag.ch/). I have used both. iCal4OL has excellent
and responsive support from the developer. Can't vouch for gSyncIt
support because it has worked perfectly and I haven't needed direct
support yet. Online help documentation has helped me with everything
so far and they have been excellent at rolling out updates as MS
Office updates.

If it does 100% of what you want it to do right out of the box, then go for
it, it is the greatest program ever.
However, if it falls short of what you need it to do, then DON'T BUY IT,
because they will NEVER fix the problems.
