Hey folks,

This year PyCon India(https://in.pycon.org/2020/) is being organized virtually on October 3-5. Would anyone like to give a talk related to SymPy at the conference?

I would suggest this year's GSoC students to submit a proposal about their project. The projects will be complete long before the conference days, and it'll be a good opportunity to showcase your work to the general Python community.

And if there's something else regarding SymPy someone would like to be presented there, I'd love to help with that.

The deadline for CFP is 14th August 2020, and you can learn more about the process at https://in.pycon.org/cfp/2020/proposals/.

Hi Nikhil,
I am currently working on the `stats` module. I would like to give a try submitting the proposal to represent the SymPy's `stats` module at the talk. Can you please suggest what essentials notes are required to be included in the proposal?
Thanks.

Hi Smit,

Sorry for taking some time to reply. You basically have to describe what your talk is about and what you will be explaining to the audience in the 25 minutes you get. You also note any prerequisites or previous knowledge the participants need to have to understand the contents of your talk.

You can check out the best practices wiki(https://github.com/pythonindia/junction/wiki/Speaker-best-practices) and blog(https://in.pycon.org/blog/2020/2020-workshop-cfp-announcement.html) from PyCon. Although the blog is for workshops, it will also work for talks.

If you need any further help, PyCon India has a mentorship team to help the speakers improve their proposals, especially first-time speakers. You can join their Zulip channel(https://pyconindia.zulipchat.com/#narrow/stream/245487-wg.2Fmentorship/topic/pre-cfp) and ask your questions or ping me.

PS: If anyone else also wants to submit a proposal, there are 20 days left in the CFP.

Regards,
Nikhil Maan
