Hello,

I have just copied-and-pasted my proposal from SymPy wiki (the final
version of the page, not the Markdown source) into the Melange editor
and, surprisingly, this did a very good job, preserving every single
bit of formatting I used. I think this might be added to the third
paragraph of the Writing Your Proposal section on the proposal
template page, which currently says:

Note that your final application must be submitted at
http://www.google-melange.com/, so do not worry about the formatting
of your application on the wiki, as you will have to reformat it
there.

I hope this would be helpful.

In my experience, the Melange editor is buggy and unreliable. That's
why we state that you will not be penalized on formatting, so long as
it is readable. I suppose we can add this tip to the page.

I did have some previous experience with this editor. It looks like
they've made some progress; I've applied the copy-and-paste strategy a
couple times already, and my proposal looks OK, including
GitHub-formatted links of the kind [link-test](URL).

I also believe its behavior depends on what type of content you copy/pasted. If it is was markdown you copy pasted, then it might not do a good job.  I converted my markdown into HTML ( by doing View source ) from browser and then pasted into its HTML editor, and it seemed to work fine. Others may have different experience.
