Hello SymPy community,
My name is Kareena Shaik and I am a beginner contributor interested in participating in Google Summer of Code 2026 with SymPy.
I recently started contributing by working on documentation improvements, specifically improving docstring clarity (example: sympy/core/symbol.py). I am learning the contribution workflow and actively trying to fix beginner-friendly issues.
I would like guidance on:
• Recommended beginner issues for GSoC preparation • Areas where documentation or beginner contributions are most helpful • Suggestions on how to prepare a strong GSoC proposal for SymPy
I am comfortable with Python and currently focusing on understanding the SymPy codebase.
