Contributing to Quantum Computation

Hello,


I want to contribute to SymPy especially to Quantum Computation and Mechanics. A quick glance at the GSoC 2014 and GSoC 2013 idea pages did not reveal much about the work that has been done recently on the module. What are the ideas that need to be implemented (in the sense that what have high priority)? How do I  get started on contributing to quantum? 

Cryptography is my major field of study but for the last one year I have been working on quantum cryptography. I have studied quantum mechanics for two years now. I am writing a thesis titled "Modelling and Analysis of Quantum Cryptographic Protoclols".

I don't think anything has been done in the quantum module in the past few years. Unfortunately, Brain Granger, the person who mentored the previous projects, is no longer able to spend time on SymPy quantum. I would start by taking a look at the existing open pull requests for the quantum module, and also https://github.com/sympy/sympy/pull/573

Sorry I can't say more. I'm not a physicist myself.

I have found a few easy-to-fix issues in quantum. You could start there may be.
