Hello everyone,

I am a third year Math PhD student at the University of Alberta, pursuing research in string theory and related mathematics. I also have a MSc. in theoretical physics. In particular,  my research involves enumerative geometry and its relation to various algebraic structures such as representation theory. As a long time user of computer algebra software such as Mathematica and SAGE, I am extremely motivated to contribute to Sympy.

Python proficiency: Intermediate level including basic knowledge of data science packages such as numpy, pandas, matplotlib etc
Mathematical education level:  Graduate level math and physics courses in algebra, topology, analysis, quantum mechanics, general relativity, etc.
Particular expertise: Theoretical physics and pure math
Level of familiarity with symbolic math: I have made extensive use of Mathematica and its pattern matching capabilities, and have some familiarity with SAGE and GAP.
Other information: I am based in Canada
GoSC ideas of my interest: I am especially interested in writing code for symbolic or rule-based integration, symbolic summation and series. Due to my background in physics and math, I am also interested in contributing to group theory, quantum mechanics and other physics modules.

I am very thankful to the open source computer algebra systems community. Please could you guide me what would be a good starting point for me to start contributing.

Best,
Aniket
