Hello,

I unfortunately just found out that my proposal was not accepted for GSOC, but I am still interested in forging ahead with my project this summer(though likely with a slightly scope than originally planned).

I was wondering if there were any big issues with my proposal(GSOC 2024 Benchmarks and Performance - Google Docs) that would need to get fixed before I would start to work on it.  If so, I would like to figure them out as soon as possible so I can get to work.  Also, if it seems like the project is just not a good fit I would be open to working on something completely different than what my proposal layed out.

I was also wondering if I would be able to have someone as a mentor this summer.  I understand that Sympy's mentors' time is very limited and is already being spread thin among all the accepted GSOC applicants, but I think having someone more experienced with Sympy to ask questions to and get good feedback from would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Sam.

Hi Sam.

You are always free to contribute to SymPy outside of GSoC. I think
everything that you proposed in your proposal is something that we
want for SymPy. I can't commit to full time mentorship, but I can try
my best to take a look at your pull requests and review them and offer
suggestions.
