Hi,

My name is Lavanaya , and I am a second-year B.Tech student in Chemical Engineering at IIT Kanpur. I am looking to contribute to SymPy for GSoC 2026.

I have a strong background in Data Structures and  Algorithms, and Python/C++ through competitive programming, and I am excited to execute those skills into open-source developement.

I am very interested in the "Improve the Lark-based LaTeX parser" project. I really enjoy working with string manipulation, tree traversals, and grammar rules, so this looks like a perfect fit for my skill set.

I have already gone through the contributing guidelines and am currently setting up my local development environment. Before I dive too deeply into the sympy.parsing.latex module, I wanted to ask:

  1. Are there any specific issues  labeled "Easy to fix" related to parsing or the AST system that you would recommend I tackle to get familiar with the codebase and the review process?

  2. Is there a specific branch or PR related to the 2023 GSoC Lark parser work that I should review to see the current state of the project?

Thank you for your time and guidance. I look forward to contributing!

Best regards
