Hello SymPy Community,

I hope you are doing well. My name is Shuvro Bhattacharjee, and I am a Computer Science and Engineering student from Bangladesh. I am very interested in contributing to SymPy as part of my preparation for Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2026.

I work primarily with Python and have hands-on experience using Git and GitHub. In parallel, I actively practice competitive programming, which has strengthened my problem-solving abilities and comfort with algorithms and mathematical thinking. Academically, I have a good foundation in calculus, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics.

I have already gone through the official documentation, and started browsing beginner-friendly issues. However, as someone new to open-source contributions, I would really appreciate guidance on how to start effectively and which types of issues are most suitable for first-time contributors.

My current interests include:

  • Symbolic and algebraic computations

  • Equation solving

  • Performance-related improvements

  • Documentation and test enhancements

I am highly motivated to learn from the community and contribute meaningfully over time. Thank you very much for your support, and I look forward to being involved.

Best regards,
Shuvro Bhattacharjee
