reviewer for Kane problem needed

In the last commit I put two forms of a Kane result in a test. I don't know enough to determine which is (or both) is correct. Is there someone that could check that?

sorry...I'm having merge/rebase difficulties and may have botched something. I'll write again if there really is a problem.

OK, the details of the two different answers are in the commit message. This is a real issue.
