Hi Everyone,
My name is Rochelle Foxx and I am a 1st year Physics student at The Ohio State University (with a minor in math and philosophy). I am excited to apply for GSoc 2026 and would love to contribute to SymPy
My project idea related to QIT and implementing standard quantum gates (like Phase and Toffoli). I believe I am a good fit to take on this project due to my participation in quantum club(lectures on quantum computing, QIT, and gates) at OSU, knowledge of linear algebra, and python experience. I believe this project could be great to add to SymPy, because it is a newly emerging field and i believe it would be great if SymPy can handle symbolic simplification of quantum circuits algebraically.
I am also interested in contributing to Improving Series Expansions and Limits project. In my calculus class we are learning Taylor series and I have been interested in learning about series and sequences and taking the limits of those. I would love to work on implementing my knowledge of those subjects to make contributions to the SymPy library.
I also have experience developing interactive physics simulations with the STEMcoding project at OSU and recently built a neutrino oscillation model in Python's Jupyter Notebook. I look forward to contributing to SymPy! Let me know if there are any mentors interested in the new idea or working on the improving series.
Best,
Rochelle Foxx
