Dear SymPy Maintainers and Mentors,
My name is Sudharsan, and I am an undergraduate student with a strong interest in symbolic mathematics and open-source development. I am writing to express my interest in contributing to SymPy as part of Google Summer of Code 2026.
I have been exploring SymPy and am particularly interested in improving the equation solving and integration modules, specifically solveset and manualintegrate. I believe there is an opportunity to enhance support for nonlinear equations, improve solution consistency, and extend symbolic integration capabilities.
As a starting point, I am currently:
Studying SymPy’s architecture and core modules
Going through existing issues and discussions
Planning to contribute by fixing beginner-friendly issues and submitting pull requests
I would greatly appreciate your guidance on:
Issues that are suitable for new contributors
Best practices for contributing to solver or integration modules
Feedback on refining my GSoC proposal idea
I am committed to making meaningful contributions before and during GSoC and would love to collaborate with the community.
Thank you for your time and support.
Best regards,
Sudharsan
