Hello,

My name is Pratik Patel. I'm from India. I am 2nd year Computer Science student. In terms of programming I have knowledge of C,Python and Core Java.I am also good with maths as it was the major subject that i studied in my Intermediate(11th,12th Standard) and in CS first year I was having two math courses. I am interested to join GSoC this year and contribute to Open source projects. I am willing to work for SymPy organisation and among the ideas listed I was interested in Differential Equations ,Series expansions and project related to matrices. So I would be happy if you would say how can i learn more about it. Among all the projects i really like project related to Differential equations and Matrices as i have good knowledge of matrices and Differential equations.I am not familiar with git so i am learning about it now

Regards,
Pratik Patel

Go through this https://github.com/sympy/sympy/wiki/introduction-to-contributing If you have any questions feel free to ask here or on gitter.

Hey,

After going through the projects and the best projects which i can work on are Implementation of multiple types of coordinate system ,matrices,PDE and Laplace & Fourier Transform(need some more research for PDE and Laplace & Fourier transform). So it would be good if you would guide me for this ideas.

Best regards,
Pratik.

That is huge list of ideas probably you should narrow down on them a little bit . I am not associated with nay of them. I can give some general advice. First setup your environment and satisfy the patch requirement for GSoC. This help you get hang of things. Pick an easy to fix issue in the Github issues list and solve it. You will learn a lot things in this process don't hesitate to ask if you get stuck. Mean while narrow down your choice of ideas and ask about the status of each project.

Yea that was some huge list, among that i would like to work on Implementation of multiple types of coordinate system and Matrices. I see that there is already many things in matrices, maybe i can work on adding some more things which are not there. Can i know the current status of coordinate system to continue on it. I already installed sympy and looking into the code and the issues.
