Request for an update on my GSoC proposal status before REU deadline

Hello SymPy Community,

Yesterday I was admitted to an REU for over the summer. However, I'm more interested in participating in GSoC with SymPy. While I understand that decisions for GSoC won't be announced until May 4th, I have to inform the REU program by April 28th if I intend to participate.

Would it be possible to know whether my proposal will be accepted before April 28 or at least some idea about how likely it is to be accepted?  I'm hoping to avoid the situation of declining the REU offer only to find out later that my GSoC proposal was not accepted.

Hi.

I appreciate your situation, but unfortunately, Google does not allow
us to tell people if their proposals are accepted or not before the
deadline.

I would recommend choosing whichever program you would prefer to
participate in. If you do plan to withdraw from GSoC, please let us
know.

Thanks for responding to my email. I was able to get the REU people to give me an extension until May 5th so this shouldn't be a problem anymore.
