I have used Adobe for years but last year I had to get rid of it because I upgraded my OS and CS5 would no longer run on my system. I did not want to pay the $$$$$ subscription fee for newer versions so after looking around I settled on Affinity as my best alternative. Good features and excellent price. One area where it lacks is that I am unable to import large batches of raw files. The application becomes memory bound and slows to a crawl. So what to do? I have used Adobe bridge for years to do sort my raw images and do some preliminary adjustments before sending the picture to Photoshop.

I'm running Bridge CC along with PS, and I'm having problems with the cache. The best advice seems to be to trash the cache and reloadt, but Bridge Preferences says the cache is located at /User/Library/Caches/Adobe Bridge CC/Cache/ and I can't find it. In fact, I can't find any Adobe cache folder anywhere, for any adobe product. The Library/Cache/ folder shows only Apple and caches for my two printers. I suspect this is Apple hiding such things, and maybe that's a generally good idea but I do need to get in there to handle this problem,

There will be an uninstaller on your machine to do this for you already, normally I'd write out some instructions for you here but in this case it might be easier to give you a link to adobe's instructions which also comes with a really simple video. :-).

I finally figured this out ! It's not perfect since you have to see all the stupid weird hidden files too but you can tell bridge to show hidden files and then finally the new dropbox folder location becomes accessible in the folders tab so you can navigate through the collapsable dropdown structure we used to be able to use. Screen shot attached:

First be aware that Bridge is dumb, it doesn't know where your images are but it will default to the default location that the Mac OS will send photos to: your Pictures Folder. If that's not where you keep them show bridge where they are.

i use bridge to batch rename files for upload to printer all the time. until recently when monterey messed up the connection with onedrive. thats all i can assume since thats the only thing that changed. maybe this new update to 12.2.1 will fix it.

Adobe Bridge 2023 is Unusable on both Macbook and iMac. Noticed at first it was very slow then it just kept crashing as it was generating thumbnails. I followed recommendations on this feed -discussions/adobe-bridge-2021-mac-version-causes-very-heavy-gp...

No I didn't bother cause it just kept stopping and the spinning wheel would show up no mater I was doing so I just shut it down and opened older version of bridge. Don't have the patience to keep restarting it. Just hoping an update will fix it sometime in the future.

Any insight on what I could do differently to fix this issue would be great. I started noticing this issue when I was still using my iMac (sierra 10.13.3). Is the processor on my camera too slow as it's an older model camera? Do I need to replace the camera cord and lose the usb/usb-c connector? I've reinstalled bridge as well... It's SO frustrating to download images. Any thoughts on this or an easier way - anything welcome! Thanks for your time!

Third, I never use a program like bridge or whatever to download files to my Mac. As the common theme to this thread plays out...I ALWAYS use a card reader and manually copy the files from my card to my external HD. Once I have all the raw files moved over, then Bridge / LR / Photo Mechanic come into play. Now there is a bit of minor setup that you need to do to get this to work properly, and I will post screen shots demonstrating what needs to be turned on. This will take 30 seconds.

All folders are located in the macOS root directory. Normally these folders are not visible and should be hidden. Hide and Unhide files/folders within macOS preferences is has no effects in Adobe Bridge CC (at least not in the macos root directory).

I am working on a 2017 iMac with the current Ventura 13.01 operating system. My bridge and photoshop are taking longer than ever to load and then they keep crashing. Photoshop will not allow me to resize any photos. I did a disk utility check on my computer and a virus scan. I'm at a complete loss and completely frustrated and getting no work done. Please advise if you have any suggestions for me. I did just clear my local cache but don't know yet if anything has improved. Thanks! (Apparently it did not help because bridge crashed again and I'm sending the report to Apple).

I have a iMac 2017 edition, 8 core processor, 32 gb of ram and 1 terra-byte of hard disk space and yet it struggles to run adobe bridge - I have 200+ gb of available space! It's unbelievably slow for a 5k computer, but only slow when using Adobe products, does anyone have any recommendations?

Just uninstalled everything adobe related (removed all adobe files from my hidden library folder, application support, preferences etc ) and no change just fired up bridge and it hit 600% cpu usage when trying to load a folder of tif files.

I'm getting sporadic 100% CPU loads from bridge for no apparent reason. It happens every time I transfer files from sd-card to PC folder using Bridge, but also randomly when Bridge is idling in the background.

The advantage I found in bridge is the gallery view with thumbnais of files that help me easily identify them. Also Bridge allows the user (me) to choose the size of these thumbnails in gallery view, which is a big help. Another great feature is the option to hide folders. In other words, Bridge will display all the contents of a folder and also the contents of all folders contained in that root folder without displaying the folders themselves allowing you to see ALL files in one selected location or folder.
My primary intention is to use an application to browse all my files or to choose them by keyword or tag. Bridge is also great at this since you can assign as many keywords as necessary and then perform a 'filtered' search by simply clicking or selecting one or more keywords.

My question is: is there a way to export the Bridge keywords and make them useful for another software or for finder? Perhaps something like attaching the keyword to the data of the photo in itself, outside of Bridge? making the keyword in bridge a tag in Finder, automatically?

Hi @gary_sc I have read a lot of your comments and will follow your advices, thanks a lot for all of your clear answers.
I have another question, and it's a pretty general one. Do you have any recomendation on how to add keywords to some files without using adobe Bridge? The main goal would be to keep using finder but don't rely only on the finder tags.

Claire Kim The problem is more with all sub folder and files not showing in box, vs just viewing images in bridge. One potential fix is trying to delete all problem items and logging out and back in again. That seems to have fixed the preview of folders and content issue for a few of my users. I think the problem items may have been locking up the system a bit?

I dont have an option to check for Box, like you do in the screenshot.
