Hi guys

Most of you will know David Heath, the founder of this Google group and the lead developer at LendAround.com.

Thanks to write-ups in BoingBoing, TechCrunch and Lifehacker, the private beta that we've been running for the past six weeks has been a big success, and we now need to bring two new Symfony developers on board, one full-time senior developer working in central London and one contractor who can work remotely. This is a tremendously exciting project that is likely to be a signficant landmark on your CV and help develop your career to the next level.

The details of what we're looking for are at www.lendaround.com/jobs.html, but we'd like to give first crack at it to members of the Symfony Google group list. If you contact us, then please mention that you heard about the job through the list. Or if you have colleagues you think might be appropriate, then please forward this mail to them.

David or I will get back to anyone who applies.

Thanks a lot!

Tim Jackson

Good luck with the project David, nice to see it's up and running now.

Anyone up for another London symfony meeting?

Symfony 2 will have a capital 's', I never know what case to use now ;)

I'd be up for another symfony meetup. I can provide a nice venue with
wifi in Putney if you all like? The next question, when?

End of April or May? That's the earliest time I can do :(

I'd be interested too.

I'd be interested. Putney would suit me, but maybe not Pookey.

Hi Jon :)

I'll set a date, but... lets decide what date of the week is best for people.

Friday is preferable for me.

Fridays are good for me too but I'm away the first two weeks in April.

p.s. Hello Ian!

You have a flat in central london..... *cough*

I have just realised a large problem with doing Friday night - all
pubs are busy.

Suggestions?

Central is preferable for me, as I'm having to come form Ipswich, so
it's already quite a trek for me.

I'm also OK with the 17th at 7.30pm

Check this out: http://www.meetup.com/symfony/

I happen to have a paid for meetup.com account already, and I know the
venue at the walkabout well.

I've checked with the owner of the Walkabout pub in Putney, and he's
fine with the 17th of April, so I've penciled it in for then. If
someone has a better venue, just let me know and I'll change it.

The walkabout pub is beside the thames, has wifi, free parking around
the side streets, and is about 13 minutes on the train from london
waterloo. It's also on the district line if you get off at Putney
Bridge and walk over the river.

Train times from waterloo: 18:58 19:01 19:07 19:15 19:22

Please RSVP on there if your coming - I'm asking that people are
symfony developers to attend, and someone post this in a more
appropriate place.

As soon as I created this meetup, a few people wanted to come that
were not symfony developers, but I will just let symfony developers
in, and allow others to come to: http://www.meetup.com/symfony-discoverers/
towards the end of the meetup. That way they don't feel totally left
out, and we can just keep this group to the developers.

RSVP here:

Am I the only one that thinks this meetup site is awful? It's taken
me ages to figure out how to get a list of people going, only to
realise it's half way down the screen (outside of my viewport) on the
right hand bar..... and I though *I* was bad a UI's!

Can you just confirm that the pub's upstairs will actually be quiet
enough to have a chat in on a friday evening?

I posted a link on the symfony-users mailing list. Could the page be
changed from 'symfony developers' to either 'symfony users', or
'developers using symfony'? I think the term might be a bit
misleading.

The site is the best I've seen for organizing and publicizing meetups.
I looked at Ning at one stage and it wasn't nearly as good and even
more confusing than meetup.com

Yes the pub is quite enough for a chat on a friday. I have been there
a few times when they have had live music downstairs, and it is still
quiet enough to have a good discussion.

I've made the requested change, it is now "developers using symfony" -
if I have missed it anywhere, let me know and I'll change this too.
