To make it easy for all to get the latest version, I have setup a
system that will put my latest work on the web. From now on, you can
access the latest version at:
http://groups.google.com/group/symbianbible/web/latest-version
This version is really the latest one from the latest source code
(whish available at http://gitorious.org/symbianbible) , and I will
only test it on some devices before releasing it to the web.
Some of the updates for the latest version are:
S60 5th edition:
- Goto verse now works without the extra tap (last time I said I fixed
it, but only in some cases)
- Reduce sensitivity in swipe for showing menu
S60 all editions:
- Fixed goto verse, on the last version it ignores words after number,
typing "1 John" will bring you to "1 samuel".
- Most translation sent to me has been merged
Answering some questions on other mails:
- I don't think I will make a version for maemo in the near future
- Many people ask me whether I will make blackberry version. I may
make this one in near future (my wife just got a blackberry)
- Kinetic scolling is difficult to implement, since I am not using
standard symbian components. This is also phone specific (s60 5th
edition), so it is low priority.
I have dropped the support for Series 90 (Nokia 7710 released in
2004), and Series 80 v 1.0 (the device was released in year 2000).
I may eventually drop the support for S80 and UIQ, since no new device
was made using that OS. Last s80 device was released in 2005 and last
UIQ device was released on 2008, and on 2009 UIQ company filed for
bankruptcy.
Supporting one type of device will be much easier for me. Currently
for every release, I have to test for 7 versions plus 2 blind
versions.
Thank you for everyone for their help, bug report, translation and
encouragement. Sorry if I didn't have the time to reply all emails
sent to me, or if I am working slowly on this project.

no, unfortunately there is no way to make it automatic for now
(dealextreme doesn't provide some kind of API).
Thank you very much for your update. I confirm that the 0.99 version
works well on the N97 and N97 mini (both S60 v5) and all the updates
you have specified work correctly.
I have previously posted on more updates that can be provided,
including the full screen bug when in landscape and smaller icons. The
kinetic scrolling would also be very nice to have, keep in mind that
all symbian touch phones including the 5800 will have kinetic
scrolling, so your bible software can help 10m+ potential users, and
be the de facto touch bible app for all.
Finally, it maybe better for you to remove the options that are
currently not usable (i.e color selection etc..) to avoid confusion.
Thank you again for your time updating this device.

Concerning updates, is it possible to connect the application to the
Software Update feature that's in Symbian^1 (S60v5) devices? I would
assume that it would be easier for you if people got notification of
downloads without pinging you directly. Not sure if that API is Nokia-
specific or not, but it might be something worth doing so that you can
push out updates easier - if this repository supports it.
Concerning SymbianBible on Maemo - I'd say don't worry about it. I'm
one of a few folks involved with the effort called Katana Bible. The
effort has already taking the existing Maemo Bible Reader - called
Rapier - and got that to a working and maintence-light space for Maemo
devices. Katana will be taking things in a different direction than
Bible readers have been, and there's plans for it to initially
support .pdb Bibles, so any persons moving from Symbian devices to
Maemo would be able to keep their Bibles. To those who want to know
more about this effort, please reference this thread here:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=31114
Lastly, I've updated my list of Mobile Bible Downloads at Mobile
Ministry Magazine (mobileministrymagazine.com) with the version link
that you have above. I think it would be better to direct persons
directly to that page (similar has worked with the Bible+ website in
terms of keeping it simple for folks).
So again, keep up the good work. And hopefully with Symbian now open
source and some cross-platform development coming with Symbian, Maemo,
WinMobile, Windows, OSX, and Linux with Qt, you just might find a
whole lot more helping hands.
Blessings to you and your family
It's a great job, thank you very much.
The fixed feature works on Sym 60 rel 3.2 (at Nxxxx E75).
