We are currently looking for a VM Ware Engineer in San Diego, CA. Candidate will be responsible for managing VMware / Hardware environment as well as assisting in managing replication and server builds. The position will report to the AVP IT Ops for the division. We are seeking a self-starter and a fast learner. The role will start working on important projects day 1 with minimal learning time and direction, therefore we are seeking a candidate who have had very recent experience in creating and maintaining large high volume systems and preferably in the financial services industry.

 

Experience Required:

*Five to Seven (5-7) years experience as a Systems Engingeer or equivalent technical position.

 

*Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in system design and deployment storage infrastructure.

*Business continuity and Disaster Recovery - experience in managing multi site environments.

*Production VMware ESX/ VMWare View / VSphere experience.

*Thorough knowledge of security methods and procedures.

*Thorough knowledge and expertise in performance tuning.

*Extensive knowledge of emerging technologies.

*Skill in clustering, load balancing, monitoring and load balancing technologies.

*Skill in the identification of performance problems and implementation of solutions to correct performance problems.

*Skill in conducting tests to newly installed/upgraded software.

*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

*Experienced in isolating and resolving complex problems and utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools.

*Ability to estimate, plan, manage, and communicate activities/deliverables of a mid-size project plan (i.e., a plan that affects a single system or product family and uses multiple resources),

*Ability to analyze information and formulate conclusions and recommendations.

*Experience in  executing a platform change with minimal disruption in service to clients.

 

Responsibilities:

*Knowledge of Dell blade chassis hardware and configurations a plus.

*Manages and maintains enterprise VMware ESX infrastructure.

*Provides expert assistance and knowledge to the management and diagnostics of proprietary software systems.

*Operates as a member of the VM and Hardware team, with both an operational and project focus ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of platforms to all environments.

*Assist in managing backups.

*Develop technical documentation, internal standards and reports as requested by management.

*Research, evaluate and recommend new technology solutions to address emerging business and technical needs.

*Deliver products within an aggressive timetable.

*Performs other related duties as assigned.

*MS Windows server

*VM View

*Experience working with enterprise storage solutions a plus

*Strong communication skills both oral and written

*The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

 

Education:

Undergraduate, or higher, degree in a related field desired

Current MCSE desired
