Great idea Nat - will try it (when I have more time!).
However before I do I have a question -
Q. Does the new WinFAX service still work when you're logged out?
I've read postings in the WinFAX Pro 9 newsgroup saying that the reception
facilities of the WinFAX Pro Service don't work when you're logged out with
version 9.0. Does the same apply to your patch?

Simon,
The answer is YES on all seven test machines! Version 9 has its own
host of problems as you can see from the postings in its newsgroup.

Too right - I won't be upgrading just yet!
Will try out your test. BTW have you found a quicker way to extract the 3
updated files from the TW2.0 demo rather than going through the uninstall,
install, uninstall install rigmarole
BTW, I have come up with another quick fix to the problem if you
don't regularly send faxes out of winfax, but want it avaiable to
receive. I delete both of winfax startup files from the startup
directory, and I am only running the service. The service continues
to run in the background whether you are logged into winfax or not.
It pops up a message window when you get a fax. You can then
manually start winfax, retrieve the message, and then shut it down
again when done. This isn't perfect, but at least you don't get the
shutdown error with only the service running.

Agree.

I've tired some thing similar Kevin (you sure save a lot of memory this
way!) but you loose the manual answer facility which is important to some
people. I'm also not sure if TalkWorks functions with this arrangement (I
don't use it so I don't care)
I have been lurking and monitoring the thread. I am sorry I cannot endorse
the solution as I have had some user's using 9.0 reporting that they have
encountered the same problem. Although the percentage of users reporting
this problem under 9.0 does seem to be a smaller percentage under 9.0. Also
I am not sure if any changes would have been made to the files under 9.0
that may cause a problem in 8.x which may not become apparent until some
particular circumstance arises. If it works for you I am glad to hear that,
but you do this at you own risk. I would advise close monitoring for any
adverse affects at least for a while.

The TW2 demo is a massive 34M! That's far too much to download.
Could you possibly post these three files somewhere - in this newsgroup if
it will take attachments?
