Configuration Information:
Version: pcANYWHERE32 8.0
Operating system: Windows NT 4.0

Hello I have a question about pcANYWHERE configurated as a
gateway.
I have several servers that I want to obtain contact with
from my home.
I am going to install pcANYWHERE on a PC running NT on my
work and from this PC i can reach the different servers via
TCP/IP.

And now to my question, can I install the pcANYWHERE gateway
to call me back so I don´t have to pay all the telephon bills on my
private telephone line.

m.v.h.

Hello Martin,

Thank you for your post to the Online Technical Support forum.

According to the Release Notes for the latest revision of pcANYWHERE32
(ver 8.02), callbacks from Gateways are now a supported feature. (This
was not true for revisions prior to 8.02.)

The following is an excerpt of the README.TXT under the heading of
section '3.14 Gateways'.

"* Gateways now support the Callback feature. If the callback feature
is enabled on the host, it will now call back the remote through
the gateway. Callbacks through gateways are only supported when the
modem is incoming from remote to gateway and network is outgoing
from gateway to host."

If we can be of further assistance, please contact us here in the forum.

Thank you,

Hello Martin,

Thank you for your post to the forum.

Unfortunately, since pcANYWHERE32 only authenticates locally and does not
log into the network, the gateway cannot be set to launch at Windows
startup.

As a possible workaround, you might consider creating an icon which
launches your pcANYWHERE32 gateway. Once this has been successfully set
up and tested, drop the icon onto the 'Start' button to have it launch
when you get into Windows.

You may also launch the gateway via the following command line:

<path to pcaw32>\AWGATE32.EXE <path to pcaw32>\data\<file>.gwf

More information about Gateways is available in the following document
found in our online knowledgebase:

I hope this helps you out.
