I get the following message when trying to install:
General file transfer error. Please check your target location and
try again
Error number: -3
Related file: C:\Program Files\pcANYWHERE\ctl3d.dll
This occurs almost immediately when the file copy starts. And the
status does not go past 0%.

Most likely this particular computer has a system policy editor in effect
that prevents the creation of 8.3 file names for long file names. Let your
system or network administrator know so they can provide assistance. This
can be changed by:
1. Go to Start Menu - Programs - Administrative Options - Policy Editor.
2. File - Open Registry.
3. Double click Default Computer.
4. Click on the "+" next to Window NT System.
5. Click on the "+" next to File System.
6. There should not be an "X" in the box next to the "Do not create 8.3
file names for long file names" option, remove the "X" if it is in there.
7. Reboot the computer.
8. Install pcAnywhere.
If it is not possible to access the Policy Editor, install pcANYWHERE to
another directory that has a short file name, such as, C:\PCA32.
Good luck and please let me know if the issue continues.

Are you installing pcANYWHERE32 to a network or local hard drive? What is
the directory name are you installing it into? Are you logged on with
Administrator Group rights? How much diskspace is available on the hard
drive? Where is the TEMP or TMP directory pointing to? This can be
determined by opening the DOS Prompt and typing SET at the prompt.
Also, confirm that the pcANYWHERE32 CD is not the problem. Test the CD on
another system and if it works correctly there then the CD is not the
issue.
I am installing to a local drive
Directory name is the installation default
I am logged on to the domain as Administrator
Free disk space is 1.5 Gbytes
TEMP is C:\TEMP
TMP is C:\TEMP
This pcANYWHERE cd has worked ok just prior to this, however, I have
another similar NT 4.0 server system that has the same error -3
install problem.
