we have just purchased pcAnywhere32 and installed it on several machines
on our network, we have all NT 4.0 workstationw. We have set it up to
launch with windows and we are able to connect to the host with no
problem and see what we are doing on this remote machine. If we set it
up so it jsut starts "as a service" then we are able to connect but can
not see anything on the screen, we get just a green background. With it
"launching with windows" makes it so the user can restore the window and
then cancel the "waiting for connection".... we do not want the users to
be able to do this... can someone help?? please...
I would preer a response by e-mail as I don't know if I will be checking
this very often... send to dusti...@eaton.com
any help is appreciated.. thanks

Most likely the issue may be due to a configuration setting on the system.
To correct the problem, obtain the following document from our Knowledge
Base:

Document Title: Green Screen when Connecting to a pcANYWHERE32 Host on a
Windows NT Computer

URL: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/pca.nsf/docid/199785134611

If the issue continues, this may be a known issue that has been fixed by
Microsoft. To obtain the Microsoft hotfix, please refer to the following
document.

Document Title: Host Displays a Blank or Green Screen after Sending a
Ctrl+Alt+Del

URL: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/pca.nsf/docid/19982237534

The host icon can be hidden from view by editing the registry using the
following information:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\pcANYWHERE\CurrentVersion\Host

Add the DWORD value ServiceStealthMode with a value of:

0 = Do not hide [DEFAULT]
1 = Hide icon

Once the ServiceStealthMode registry entry is applied, the only way to
un-hide the host icon is to edit the registry and change the DWORD to "0".

There isn't a problem responding to your email address. However, any
further responses must be posted in the appropriate newsgroup section.

Good luck and please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
