When ever we lock an NT server and end the remote connect, the server
locks up. This occurs on one of two Compaq Proliant 7000 with dual
processors, but not on the other. The server that locks up has
PCanywhere version 8.02 build 220 with the registry entry for
multiple processors set to one. The other Compaq Proliant 7000 is
running PCanywhere version 8.01 build 188, and does not lock up.
Installing the previous version of PCanywhere to the problem server
did not resolve the problem.
We also have a Compaq Proliant 5500 with dual processors running
PCanywhere version 8.02 build 220 with the registry entry for
multiple processors set to one that also locks up. We have tried
uninstalling the 8.02 and installing the 8.01 version, and still
lockup
We also have a Compaq Proliant 4500 with dual processors running
PCanywhere version 8.01 build 188 that has never locked up.
We have tried connecting remotely with PCanywhere versions 7.5, 8.01
and 8.02 and have the same results regardless of the remote.
I have suspected that the problem is caused by remotely connecting
with different software version, rather than the multiple CPUs, and
need a solution. Other than resorting to a different vendor, I would
like a firm resolution from Symantec
Hello Philip,
Thank you for using our online newsgroups.
I apologize for the frustration this has caused you. We are currently
working on a broader, more in-depth solution for multi-processor
systems and hope to release this solution in the near future. If you
would like, I will record your issue and email address and inform you
when the solution is available.
Thank you for you patience.

Joseph, thank you for a strait forward answer. Please email me when
a solution is available. We are in the middle of 2 major platform
upgrades for 2 different customers. A solution is imperative to
going production with these new platforms in the middle of October,
and need a resolution from Symantec or we will be forced switch to
another remote control solution. Please keep me informed as to the
status of the fix.
Thank you.
