Most likely the issue may be due to a configuration setting on the system.
To correct the problem, obtain the following document from our Knowledge
Base:
Document Title: Green Screen when Connecting to a pcANYWHERE32 Host on a
Windows NT Computer

If the issue continues, this may be a known issue that has been fixed by
Microsoft. To obtain the Microsoft hotfix, please refer to the following
document.

The host icon can be hidden from view by editing the registry using the
following information:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\pcANYWHERE\CurrentVersion\Host
Add the DWORD value ServiceStealthMode with a value of:
0 = Do not hide [DEFAULT]
1 = Hide icon
Once the ServiceStealthMode registry entry is applied, the only way to
un-hide the host icon is to edit the registry and change the DWORD to "0".

I tried the Registry Edit and it does not work.
on NT running regedt32 I go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\pcANYWHERE\CurrentVersion\Host
I added a "value" ServiceStealthMode
made it "REG_DWORD" and set it "Binary" "1" and even then restarted
the machine and it does not hide the application from the taskbar or
hide the host button from anywhere.
This is something that I would really like to do (hide the running
host application from the user). I have already hidden the folder
from the "Programs" list, but having this running host application in
the taskbar allows the user to close it, then I have to go into
server manager and restart the service on these machines that I need
to connect to.
thank you for your help.

Run REGEDIT and see if ServiceStealthMode with a Value of "1" exists in the
registry setting defined above. If it does, are you logged on as an
Administrator? The settings above only hide the host icon from appearing
on the Taskbar. If the registry setting is correct, confirm that Service
Pack 3 for NT 4.0 has been applied. Also, verify that the latest update
for pcANYWHERE32 version 8.0 has been applied to the system.
To determine if the latest update for pcANYWHERE32 version 8.0 has been
applied, start pcANYWHERE32 then select Help / About pcANYWHERE and verify
the version number. If the version is not 8.02, build 220, then run
LiveUpdate.
To run the LiveUpdate within pcANYWHERE, select Utilities / LiveUpdate.
This procedure will run automatically and update the current version to
8.02.
If you are unable to run LiveUpdate, download 802up_a.exe (4.8 megs) from
the following URL:
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/files/pca/pcanywhere32_for_windows95nt.html
The following Periodic Update file from our Knowledge Base describes the
fixes with 8.02:
Document Title: pcANYWHERE32 8.0 Periodic Update File

Good luck and please let me know if the issue continues.
