I continue to have problems with my LiveUpdate and Norton SystemWorks
2005 on my XP machine. Everything was working fine until about a month
ago. My subscription is up to date and I have tried to
uninstall/reinstall both LiveUpdate and Norton Anti-Virus (thanks to
everyone who gave me those suggestions). When I try to run LiveUpdate
it still fails in the same spot, just when LiveUpdate is synchronizing
with Symantec's site. I thought there might be a pop-up being blocked,
but my pop-up blocker is off. Coincidentally, I have another program
which started to fail at about the same time (a graphics editor), but
everything else appears fine, according to Norton's "One-button
checkup". Is there any specific network configuration, registry
settings, etc that need to be modified? All of my other network
connections appear to work, so I don't see it as a connection issue.
Thanks.

I was about to tell you that I run Norton Systemworks 2005 on my
WinXPpro SR-2 machines running Firefox, but when I double checked, I
found that they had been updated to Systemworks 2006. Now, I do recall
that a few months back, when I went to update my Norton virus protection
subscription, something on the Norton site told me I would have to
update to SystemWorks 2006. I was offended by their policy, but I
upgraded to Systemworks 2006.

This Norton site might be of some help:

The approach I use each year to keep costs under control is to buy the
newest version of SystemWorks that includes a virus definition
subscription. Fry's Electronics frequently has specials during which
you can buy a whole new software update package for much much less than
what Symantec charges for just an on-line virus definition subscription
renewal. In my opinion, Symantec's on-line virus definition
subscription renewals have been overpriced in recent years. I buy the
upgrade package when they happen to be on special, and leave it on the
shelf until needed. Symantec's subscriptions are supposed to run for
year after installation.

Good luck.
