LU1814 error

I am helping a friend who is getting an LU1814 error. He is using AntiVirus
2006. I have used intelligent updater to bring his definitions up to date
hoping that it might also fix his problem. It didn't. I uninstalled Live
Update and reinstalled the latest version from the Symantec web site. That
didn't fix the problem either. I am about to uninstall the software using
the uninstall utility from the Symantec site and reinstall the software.
Can anyone tell me if I am going in the right direction? I hate to waste
his time if I doing all the wrong things. Thank you for your help.

Have you tried looking up that error on the Symantec site and following
their tips for resolution?

Thanks for your response, Dave. Yes I have. The final recommendation
appears to be a complete uninstall and reinstall. That's my next step. I
was just concerned that there are system settings that I might not be aware
of that someone might have used to solve the same problem. I've been using
Norton for years and have never encountered this problem myself. Thanks
