I've been using the xdbdown.cmd script on my server since it was
released and I've rarely, if ever, had a problem with it. Starting on
January 11th 2007, it will no longer download the newest XDB file from
the symantec FTP site. I can grab it manually without a problem, so I
have connectivity. What I keep getting is a copy of the whatsnew.txt
file instead of the XDB file.

I've gone through the script a dozen times and can't figure out what
the problem might be. I've replaced the script with a new copy, I've
made sure everything is pointing to the right place, it connects to the
symantec FTP site without a problem - it just downloads the wrong file.

Any ideas on how to fix it are appreciated.

Thanks

Stu

Sorry, this isn't the fix. I just wanted you to know that you aren't
alone.

The problem is that "dir *.xdb" is returning a full listing of the
AVDEFS/... directory, and not the one filename that it should. I don't
know why it's started doing that. In the meantime, I've gone back to
using a modified rcegetter.bat to download and unpack navup8.exe
instead, so at least the defs are getting updated again.

Good luck!

Richard
