Probably been asked before, but anyone know how to fix the above
liveupdate install error? When running live update (NIS 2003, Win2k
pro) I get...

Installing Norton Internet Security program updates (1 of 1), failed.
LU1812: A program that was part of this update dailed when it ran.
This update was not applied

and then an error with LU1806.

The above is from the latest version of liveupdate (which I downloaded
directly from the Symatec site...it hadn't got to this version with the
autoupdates due to the above apparently stopping further autoupdates).
Anyway, this version doesn't seem to have the information the older
version showed i.e. .. the above error also reported that it was
occuring when trying to update v6.0.4 of the common client (saw that
info in the older liveupdate version).

The above occured since I had to totally remove NIS from my computer as
it was causing an error every time I rebooted which caused an automatic
reboot. Had to finally reboot in safe mode and remove what I could of
NIS, after which I could boot! After normal uninstall I went thru the
registry and removed norton/symatec entries (though I think some stuff
remained that I wasnt sure about...anyone have a complete list of all
the regitry entries NIS installs?) I should mention that before the
above error happened I had all the latest updates, so perhaps there is
still a registry entry saying there is more recent versions of some
files than actually exist..? When I run liveupdate now I also get the
popup window error...

LiveUpdate must update the Symantec Common Client. Please install this
update first, restart your computer, and run Liveupdate again.

Of course doing the above has no effect i.e. reboot and rerun, but get
the same error over and over.

Thanks for any help!
