Configuration Information:
Network: --None--
------------------------------------------------------------

Purchased NAV 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0. Setup Scheduler to perform
biweekly scans and monthly live updates.

Scheduler delivers the error message above and either the scan or the
live update does not occur.

Have downloaded latest Live Update file. This does not seem to help.

This feature had worked in an earlier version on my workstation. Am I
missing something in setting up scheduler?

Thank you.

Karen,

Thanks for using the Norton AntiVirus discussion group.

Are you login as administrator? Are you using the default "scan for
viruses" from the pull down menu of the "type of event"?

Please let me know.

Donald:

Yes, I am logged on as Administrator and
Yes, I have selected Scan for Virus under Type of Events.

Please keep in mind that this Norton Program Scheduler error message
occurs when trying to perform both unattended Scans for Viruses AND
Live Updates.

Any new ideas?

Karen,

Thanks for your reply.

Can you run c:\progra~1\navnt\navwnt.exe from the run command line? If
so then add a new schedule event. Pick run program and type
c:\progra~1\navnt\navwnt.exe /L in the command line. Does scheduler
run this scan?

Please let me know what you find.

Thank you for your latest response. Program Scheduler performed the
scan using the Run Program option and the path you provided for the
Command Line.

Am I to assume that this is a "work around" for the more automated
options of "Scan for Viruses" or "Run Live Update"? If so, is the
correct path to schedule a live update
c:\progra~1\navnt\liveupdate.exe /L ?

Please let me know what your latest thoughts are based on the program
scheduler's success using run program.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, your last instructions did not provide a successful
solution for Live Update.

Upon enter the command C:\proga~1\navnt\navlu32.exe /scheduled, I
received the following error message:

The command you have specified in the "Command Line Run" field cannot
be found.

I have verified that NavLu32.exe exists in the directory. In
addition, I had previously updated that particular file from your
site in an effort to trouble shoot this problem before I contacted
you.

Please help.

Karen,

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry the line should be C:\progra~1\navnt\navlu32.exe /scheduled

It appears that the corrected command line ran successfully. However,
I saw nothing on my screen while I assume that Live Update was
running. When I manually requested live update, I was told that I had
all the current files and updates.

Is there something that can be added to the command line so that I
know Live Update ran successfully?

Thank you.

Karen,

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry the unattended LiveUpdate is done in the background.
