Norton 360 or NIS?

The Norton coverage on my XP laptop is about to expire. The machine
has both NIS and Systemworks installed. When I went to renew my
subscription to Norton Antivirus, I had some trouble and the renewal
did not go through (my coverage expires in mid-August).

What is the difference between Norton 360 and the NIS/Systemworks that
is currently installed? Is it worth it to simply buy a new version of
Norton 360 and install it on the laptop before the old subscription
runs out?

I find AVG to be very useful, they used to do a free period I think.
Personally I use Apple so dont get tend to get viruses.
