Cann download attached files. Message not enough space. Over 2
gig's of hard drive space are available and I have followed your
procedures in the support area about not enough disk space. POP3
mail system using a local intranet provider for company intranet and
e-mail. No problems with Netscape downloading attached files.
Cannot do the same function in ACT 4.0.
Help!
Hi Bob,
Increase the paging file size to a size the system has less than 2
gigs of free space. Make sure you have ACT! 4.02 installed.
Have you cleared the TEMP directory and deleted TMP files on system?
You should also check your Email folder.
Is this NT system running NTFS only?
We appreciate your use of Online Services.

Robert,
Are you running NTFS? If so then change your TEMP variable to a drive
with a FAT partition.
Jim Lee [Symantec Corp.]
When you double click on the file, still revieve an error message
that there is "insufficient disk space to save document"
How can ACT download the files yet not be able to open the files by
doubleclicking of the file while in the e-mail editor.
Using explorer and double click on the downloaded file the file opens
properly.
What is missing in the ACT not allowing the email editor to open the
files.
System is running NT4.0 NTFS. There are no FAT partition on the NT
machine to point to for temp folders now nor will any FAT paritions
be available.
Hi Robert,
ACT! 4.0 on an NT system running NTFS will not expand email correctly,
development is reviewing code, but no information has been returned on
when this will be corrected.
The only workaround known to allow ACT! to expand the files correctly
is to set the Temp and TMP variables to a folders existing on a drive
using FAT file system.
Your answer is not correct or acceptable. I have installed ACT 4.0
on other another machines and it downloads files correctly on NTFS
system.
I have the same problem on Windows 95 systems also. Please research
again. What could cause either system (NT4.0 WIN95)to prevent the
opening of attached files when they are downloaded to the client.
In additiona I have used ACT 4.0 on other company e-mail systems with
NTFS and have had not problems. What is going on here!!

Bob,
Attachments not opening are usually caused by corrupted attachments
which can happen if you pass through some emails servers like
groupwise.
Previous posts and trouble shooting situations where attacments would
not expand were corrected by placing the Temp variable on a FAT
partition. This information was passed back to development for
testing.
We have a distinct disadvantage using Online to trouble shoot this
type of situation. I can propose two options.

1. Is to compare the machine working to the one not working to see
what the differences are in setup and software used.
2. Is to contact phone support to have technical help in a real time
mode.
When I open my mail the file(s) is/are downloaded to c:\temp\temporay
files\ without trying to open the files atttachments. If I delete
the directory "Temporary files" folder is re-created when I open the
e-mail and not the attachment and the attachments are again placed in
the "Temporary files" folder. In addition if I attempt a second get
mail it will create a second verion of the file in "Tempory files".
In addition to the file I will recieve additonal HDR and TMP files
placed in the "Temporary files" folder.
On the machine that downloads attachment(s) the "Temporay files"
folder is not created.
Are there any setting or configuration files that are changeable.
This is not a case or corrupted files. No groupwise is being used.
Any more thoughts and ideas?
On the NT machine that downloads correctly the file the folder
c:\temp\Temporary files\ is not created
On the machine that doesn't save the attachments, does the drive have more
than 2GB free disk space. If so, is there any way you can create a temp dir
(and setting) to point to a drive that has less then 2GB free space?
This sounds like a known bug in Microsoft's GetFreeSpace() API call. It
incorrectly returns free disk space. It sounds like ACT is using this call to
determine whether there's enough free space on the drive before saving the
attached file.
I hope this helps!

Still have the problem of not being able to open attached files on NT
machines. Some NT macines it works OK and some machines it does not.
On machines that it does not work the files are downloaded to a
directory called C:temp\temporary files
The files are on the machine but the ACT email program will neith
open of save the files! You can open the files any time either
through explorer or word excel etc.
If the user attemps to open the email with he attachment the files
are download twice with a (1) added to the file and the same box
comes saying there is not enough disk space to open the files!
What is cause the file to be seperated from the email automatically
and placed in the directory c:\temp\temporary.
Need to find a solution to this problem. This should work on all NT
machines!
Hi Robert,
Unfortunately I am not able to duplicate your email attachment
problem. Of those I have duplicated the information already sent
corrected them.
I believe the resolution to this problem will need real time
interaction, I suggest you call phone support on the 800-927-3989 to
work directly with a technician.
The only recourse is to continue trouble shooting by comparing a
working ACT! installation to one of the ones not working.
