date format fields

Configuration Information:
Operating system: Windows NT 4.0
Network: --Other--

Network: --Other--
having migrated from ACT 3.0 to 4.0 and converted my database, I can
nolonger lookup on any of my fields which are of date format. All
lookups come back no records found although the data is present when
one looksup all contacts.
I have also tried using my backup 3.0 database with 4.0 and the same
problem exists.
Please note these date format fields are also indexed.
Please HELP!
