Configuration Information:
Operating system: Windows NT 4.0
Network: Microsoft Peer-to-Peer

Good Morning,

I am using a new installation of ACT 4.02 on Windows NT server with
128 megs of RAM. We have the database files set up on a network. The
other computers on the network are running Win 95.

On the computer with NT, I can start ACT and and use the program
without problem. If I edit any templates, I am able to do so until I
try to edit a Label template. I can edit the template just fine, but
when I try to save
it, I get the following error:

SmartHeapError

Out Of memory. Please free some memory, then choose retry.

I do not have any other programs running other than ACT when I get
this error.

The funny thing is that any other computer on the network, running
win 95, can edit this same template and it saves without a problem.

As per one of your tech notes, I Uninstalled ACT, made sure there was
nothing left in the directory. I then reinstalled ACT and applied the
update to 4.02 Still, after the install, I cannot save my edited
template and other computers can.

Is this a problem with NT? Can you offer any help??

thankyou

Alex

Hi Alex,

Is this only when you try to edit and save one particular label or any
label?

Try switching your printer driver to an HP III if you use a laser
printer, an HP Deskjet for a inkjet or an Epson LQ 510 for a dot
matrix.

Are you logged in with administrative rights on the NT system when
saving. If this works then check for user rights to the directory
where the label is stored, you need to have rights of read, write,
modify.

We appreciate your use of Online Services.
