Follow these steps to correct this issue:
1. Boot from a floppy disk with the FDISK.EXE program on it (your
Emergency Unlock disk will work).
2. Enter FDISK /MBR at the prompt.
3. Remove the floppy disk from the drive and reboot your computer

This should solve most of one's hard disk problems.
Simply click on FAQ's to the left (in the yellow column, then choose
Norton Your Eyes Only and then Bootdisk... you'll see answers there
