Answering Machine Message Cancelling

I've just purchased Winfax Pro 8 and have little experience with it
to date.

However, despite having read the handbook from cover to cover I can't
find any way to properly interupt the answering machine greeting -
when answering the phone through another handset.

Pressing the # key seems to start recording and pressing again brings
up a "system" voice telling me that recording has stopped and
inviting me to review my message etc. All very frustrating if I want
to speak to a caller!

Quite apart from advising me on how to cancel my recorded message,
how can I delete the "system" message outlined above?

My query is from the U.K. running over the BT phone network.

I also have a Compaq phone/fax answering machine installed but
currently disabled.
