If you phone supports Eavesdropping you can set that up to have the modem listen on the line for fax tones.

If you want Talkworks to answer the voice calls then you have to configure it to pick up calls and discriminate the call.

You need to make sure your modem correctly supports call discrimination. Using Windows HyperTerminal type:

AT+FAE=?
AT+FAA=?

If ERROR is reported for either command, the modem can not use Call Discrimination with WinFax PRO 8.0 for that command.
Your modem uses the command that returns a " ( 0 , 1 ) " response, rather than the error.

Ensure that the correct value is set for CallDiscriminationSupport. This value tells WinFax which AT command(s) to use for Call
Discrimination. Below is a table which shows all the valid values for CallDiscriminationSupport.

CallDiscriminationSupport Setting AT Commands Sent to Modem
0 OFF
1 AT+FAE=1...ATO
2 AT+FAA=1...ATO
3 AT+FAE=1
4 AT+FAA=1
9 *AT+FCLASS=X+FAE=1...ATO
10 *AT+FCLASS=X+FAA=1...ATO (common USR setting)
11 *AT+FCLASS=X+FAE=1
12 *AT+FCLASS=X+FAA=1

Below is an explanation of what the various AT commands do:

AT+FAE or AT+FAA - Automatically detect data and fax calls and answer appropriately
AT+FCLASS=1 / 2 - Set the modem into class 1 fax mode AT+FCLASS=2 - Set the modem into class 2 fax
*NOTE: Where X = 1 or two depending on the setting already specified in Winfax Pro.
ATO - Switch the modem into online (or data) mode

Now that you know if your modem supports it or not you can modify the entry in the registry from the options 1-12 above. Pick one
that suits your modem, You may need to choose another option if the one you selected does not work.

Typical Settings:
The values listed here are in decimal value, not in hexadecimal value. Make sure that Decimal is
selected in the Base group box. AT+FCLASS=1 or AT+FCLASS=2 will be sent to the modem depending on the class under which the modem
is operating.

- If the modem responded OK in HyperTerminal for AT+FAE=1, you can also try using a value of 1,3,9, or 11.
- If the modem responded OK in HyperTerminal for AT+FAA=1, you can also try using a value of 2,4,10,12.

CAUTION:
Symantec and Microsoft cannot offer technical support on their products if any changes have been made to the Windows Registry. A
mistake could require you to reinstall Windows, and could also result in permanent data loss or corrupted files.

We strongly encourage you to back up your System Registry before making any changes. Please make sure you modify only the key(s)
specified. If you are not comfortable editing the
Registry, please obtain assistance from a professional.

Modifiy the Registry:
1. Exit all running programs, including the CommBar and the WinFax Controller.
2. Click Start, then Run. The Run dialog box appears.
3. Type REGEDIT and click OK. The Registry Editor launches.
Locate the following Registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Delrina\CommSuite\7.0\Modems\Modem#\CallDiscriminationSupport

where # is the modem you are currently using with WinFax.

Double click the above key and change the value to the correct setting for that modem.
Exit the Registry Editor and restart WinFax.

Ensure that the [HandOffPriorities] section of the TELEPHON.INI looks like the following:

[HandOffPriorities]
RequestMakeCall=DIALER.EXE
datamodem=wfxmod32.exe,
unknown=wfxmod32.exe,
g3fax=wfxmod32.exe

<--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Ok, first find the deltest.exe program in your PROGRAM FILES\SYMANTEC\COMMON\ directory.

1) Run the Program.
2) Choose "Custom Diagnostics" option and continue: "NEXT".
3) Place a checkmark in the "Registry Editor" option and "NEXT".
4) In the Commsuite section, expand the "MODEM0 SETTINGS" folder by clicking the "+" sign to the left of it.
5) Scroll down to the "Call Discrimination Support" option and click on it.
6) Underneath the white window will be a field with a drop down arrow to select different call discrimination settings. Choose the
appropriate option.
7) Be sure to click "Save" to save the changes into the registry.
