Have WinFax 8.03
Installed Outlook98 using the "corporate" option.
When I try to view subfolders in WinFax using the Outlook Contacts
folder, Winfax does not see them - it only sees the Contacts folder.
When I transfer copies of the subfolders to Contacts and choose the
e-mail selection, it gets sent as a fax, rather than to the outbox of
exchange. To accomplish that, I have to go through "delivery" and
make the appropriate changes.
Everything worked great in Outlook 97. This is very disappointing.
I have the subfolders marked appropriately in outlook so that they
are visible, and they function properly in the e-mail adressing
portion of Outlook which sees all of the subfolders in a normal
fashion.

FYI:
WinFax SE support is provided by Microsoft.
Not all features of WinFax Starter Edition are implemented in the same
way
in WinFax PRO. Be sure to check the comparison chart to understand how
WinFax PRO will work for you:
http://www.symantec.com/winfax/starter/compare.html
Right now - there are two options with Outlook 98 - IMO and Corporate.
The contact's fax number in Outlook must be assigned to the "Other
Fax"
field and not the "Business Fax" field, as follows:
In Outlook, open an existing contact or create a new contact.
Change one of the fields to "Other Fax" from the drop-down lists.
NOTE:
You must have WinFax PRO version 8.01 or later installed to use
Outlook
integration with WinFax PRO.
WinFax can use an Outlook 98 contact list only if the number is in the
Other
fax field. You can manually copy a number in the Other fax field, or
use a
utility to do this. The update file, WFUPDATE.EXE is available from
the
Symantec FTP site at the following location:
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/winfax_pro/ver8/uti
lities/wfupdate.exe
- the file is also available on the Outlook 98 CD.
This utility is only required for the Internet Mail installation. In
Internet Mail Only mode, Microsoft changed the way they present fax
numbers
in their "Contacts". The numbers do not appear correctly when viewing
this
phonebook in WinFax PRO 8.x
To resolve this, download and run the update utility. Please note
there are
several limitations to this utility. You must run it every time you
modify
any entries in the Outlook database. Also, if entries are modified,
the fax
numbers are moved to the Other fax field and will not be available in
the
field they were previously resident. If the fax number needs to
remain in
the original field, then the Other fax field must be manually edited
for
WinFax to view the number. Here are the various situations that the
utility
addresses:
If you have only one fax number for the contact, it automatically uses
that
number as your primary fax number.
If you have multiple fax numbers, you're asked to choose a number for
WinFax
to use.
If you have an "Other" fax number, it uses that as the WinFax fax
number.
If you need the logs to be visible in Outlook 98 as they were being
displayed in Outlook 97, then the corporate version must be installed.
You can check if the MAPI service is installed by starting Outlook and
clicking the Tools menu. If you have a Service menu option, then MAPI
is
installed. If you click Service, WinFax PRO should be listed as a
service.
