I'm having trouble getting my modem to answer faxes. I figure if I can get
my fax software (Winfax Pro 10) to use the com port instead of the tapi
software, I can solve the problem. How do I do that, if my modem is on com3
and winfax won't show up com3 (only shows com1+2 and TAPI)? Is there
anything in the registry I can fiddle with? The winfax dox says I should
change to com that the modem is on, but it doesn't show up.
Thanks
Igor,
I'll most appreciate your posting any answers that you may get to your
inquiry. I'm attempting to develop a strategy that may involve buying a new
modem, and want to make my WinFax 10 Pro work on Com 3 with my Pentium 4
Windows 2000 Pro.
My Motorola SM56 modem doesn't seem to want to handshake properly, and it
disconnects frequently, even on phone lines that test out pretty favorably.
I've had good luck with earlier computers on the same phone lines with the same
ISPs using US Robotics modems. But don't know what to do at this point.
I hope that we'll hear from someone.
Thanks,
Jack G.
