I'm running WinFax Pro 7.0 (Feb 1996) on a laptop computer with a
Megahertz XJ-CC4288 modem and an answering machine connected (via a
line splitter) that doesn't recognize voice and fax calls.
Can WinFax distinquish between voice/fax calls, and how do I
configure the system. Does it have something to do with changing the
number of rings on the answering machine, fax modem? What do I do
when I pick up the telephone and a fax is coming through?
Cheers, Eveline

The module in Winfax called Talkworks will take an incoming call and
direct it either to Winfax , if fax, or Talkworks if voice.
Inorder for this to work, you must have a voice capable modem and a
voice chipset that is supported by Talkworks. You do not need any
special phone services or answreing machines. If you enabled
eavesdropping in Winfax when you pickup the call and it happens to be
a fax, Winfax takes the call off your hangs. If the call is voice,
then you are left to take it, unless you also wish that call recorded,
then that option must be inabled in Winfax/Talkworks.

TalkWorks 8.0

The lists are different for both Winfax and Talkworks.
A modem that works with Talkworks will work with Winfax, but one that
is supported by Winfax may not be supported by Talkworks.
