Is there a setting so that if controller is on, set to take messages
or incoming faxes, and you pick up a phone extension to answer the
call, the answering machine does NOT interrupt the caller and
continue as if it is taking a message?

Yes, enable eavesdropping in Winfax and when you pickup an extension
the answering machine will not come on and if it happens to be a fax,
it will still go thru. Also, check that "call screening" is NOT
enabled.

I am having a similar problem to the one discussed in this thread,
but instead of starting the answering machine, the line is cut off
after a few seconds. It seems like the program does not notice that
I have picked up the telephone receiver.

I am using TalkWorks Pro 2.0 in Windows '98 on a Dell Dimension XPS
machine and a USR 56K Voice INT PnP modem. I can get TW to work as
an answering machine without a problem. But if it is set to auto
answer my calls, and a call comes in while I am in my office, I will
pick up the phone receiver and I can talk to the caller for 20 or 30
seconds, but then the call is suddenly cut off. Isn't it possible to
set up the program so that it will take a message if I don't answer
within 3 rings, but if I pick up the telephone handset before three
rings, I can carry on a normal conversation?

I tried to undo the call screening option as you mentioned in an
earlier message, but it didn't help.

Thanks for your help,

Kevin

In future, please post Talkworks 2 issues in the appropriate
