OK, I lied, I'm not using pcA 8.0, it's 7.5, but I didn't see a
newsgroup for 7.5. Hope you can still help.
I have pcA7.5 waiting in host mode on a NT4.0(SP3) server. I want to
connect to it with pcA7.5 on my Win95OSR2 client over a TCP/IP only
network (10Mbps Ethernet, no routers in between the host and the
remote). When I connect to the server, I see the full server screen
in my remote window on my client. However: it never refreshes- that
is, I see the server screen once and it never changes, no matter what
keystrokes or mouse clicks I send.
The server is responding to the remote's actions- I know this because
if I click on "Start" on the remote, the Start menu appears on the
server, even if I don't see the screen change on my remote. When I
end the remote session, the server does revert into host mode
properly. So, in effect, I have remote control of the server, I just
can't see anything I'm doing- obviously, not a good situation.
Thanks for your help.
Hello Barry,
Thank you for using our online support newsgroups.
Please note that pcANYWHERE32 version 7.5 was discontinued over a year
ago, and is no longer supported by pcANYWHERE Technical Support. If
the below recommendations do not resolve your questions or issues, I
recommend upgrading to pcANYWHERE32 version 8.0 for continued
assistance.
A black screen upon connection to a host can be caused by several
things, such as modem issues, the host's video adapter, or other
memory conflicts.
To better assist you with troubleshooting a black screen upon
connection, I recommend the following document that is available on
our Knowledge Base:
Black Screen Connecting To 32-bit Hosts
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/pca.nsf/docid/199753082441
While Symantec no longer provides direct technical support for
pcANYWHERE32 version 7.5, it does provide extensive online
documentation for it that is available in our Knowledge Base on the
following web page:
pcANYWHERE Knowledge Base
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/pca/kbase_pca.html
Please let us know if you continue to have this issue after trying
these recommendations, and if you have upgraded to pcANYWHERE32
version 8.0. Good luck.

The articles you suggested I read contained nothing that applied to
this problem. Upgrading to 8.0 is something I would do if I was sure
it would work- but I'm not going to just throw money at this problem.
Do you have any suggestions specifically related to my question?
Thanks,
Barry

I am sorry about the missunderstanding related to your question.
We do need to clarify that pcANYWHERE32 version 7.5 is no longer
supported by Symantec. To obtain support you will need to upgrade to
the current version of pcANYWHERE32.
The issue you are having is almost always going to be video related.
This issue should have no problems being resolved by using the 8.02
version of pcANYWHERE32. I would suggest that you remove version 7.5
and download the trialware version of pcANYWHERE32 version 8.0 and
verify that it does resolve your issue before purchasing the upgrade.
For information on the trialware version of pcANYWHERE32, please read
the document located at:

I hope this helps you.
Be well.
