Hello Richard,
Thank you for using our online discussion groups.
I believe that you are referring to the host computer, not to the
remote. The "remote" computer is the computer that you will be at.
This computer is used to control a computer that you are not at. The
"host" computer is the computer that you will be controlling remotely,
that you are not at. Generally, the home computer is the remote, and
the office computer is the host.
The host will show as "Waiting for Connection" on the Windows taskbar.
Normally, the host user will be able to see it and cancel it if they
wish.
I recommend adding an additional registry key on the host to prevent
the host user from seeing it waiting for a connection or canceling it.
The following steps will walk you through adding this key:
1. Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE) on the host computer.
2. Edit the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\pcANYWHERE\CurrentVersion\Host
3. Create a DWORD value with the name of ServiceStealthMode.
4. Assign the value of 1 (decimal) to it.
5. Close the Registry Editor. The changes should take effect
immediately. If you are running the host in Waiting mode, you will
need to cancel it and then have it wait for a new connection for this
change to take place.
For more information on adding or changing registry keys, I recommend

I tried your suggestion in your reply to Richard and it did not work.
The host (waiting for a call) icon is still visible on the taskbar.

What version of pcANYWHERE32 are you using? What operating system is
it running on?
If the host was waiting for a connection when you changed the
registry, you will need to close it, then bring it back up. If this
does not work, try rebooting the system. If this still fails, double
check that your registry entry is spelled correctly. One of these
solutions should resolve the issue. Otherwise if not, then uninstall
pcANYWHERE32, then reinstall it and then readd the ServiceStealthMode
registry key.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thanks.
