Hello Annabelle,
Thank you for using our online newsgroups.
As long as the host that you want to control has the switch set to
allow it to use the mouse, keyboard and monitor, this type of
configuration should work.
However, I recommend using Novell's Win2NCS instead of NASI. NASI is
designed for Windows 3.1, and is 16-bit. Win2NCS is designed for
Windows 95 and Windows NT, and is 32-bit. Because of this, Win2NCS
works better with pcANYWHERE32. (Also, Novell no longer supports
NASI.)
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thanks.

Sorry I should have been more specific. All 4 hosts are left in
unattended mode and will reboot when a connection has disconnected.
We are really limited for space in our LAN room so I was looking at
purchasing a server switch that controls multiple servers with a
single monitor, k/b and mouse. The switch does automatic screen
scanning. I am hoping that by using an auto scan switch the hosts
won't get a missing k/b etc error on reboot.
Do you know if this will work? Or do i need a monitor, k/b and mouse
on every host pc?
Thanks for your help.
Annabelle
Thanks for this new information.
I do not have any specific information on this, since this appears to
be related to whether or not your computer prompts for a missing
keyboard, etc, when it is rebooted. The only thing I can recommend is
to try it to see what happens. If it does need specific hardware, then
you will need to have dedicated hardware for that system.
Since these devices are not required to be physically there (only
their drivers, technically speaking), this should work however. Again
though, I am not certain unless this was actually tested on your
setup.
Please let us know if you need additional information or assistance
with this issue. Thanks.
The only issue is that when you reboot the PC's you must type in the
network password (at least on NT 4.0 with TCP/IP). I use Tweak UI to
handle the password on start up. The Serve Switch also recongnizes the
Mouse & Keyboard enven when the switch is not on that PC so I do not have
to worry about which PC the switch is set to.
I do not sell anything I just use one and thought I could help. You may
contact me directly if you have any furter questions on how the swithch
works in this environment.

Thank you for taking the time to answer a question from another
customer. This is good information to know that using at least the
Black Box, we can accomplish this process.
Please let us know if we can assist you with any questions or issues
that you may have in the future.
