Configuration Information:
Version: NU95 version 3.x
Operating system: Windows 95a

When I use File Compare, the text just above each window consists of
Greek letters, apparently using the Symbol TruType font.
What can I do to get it back to a readable font?
Thanks

Vernon,
I tried the suggested solution, i.e. uninstall the font Monotype
Sorts, but I still get greek letters at the top of the file compare
window. Am I missing a particular TruType font? Thanks for any
help. Karl Frensdorff

Karl,

File Compare should be using Arial as its font. Did you reboot after
deleting the font? How many fonts do you have?

Vernon,
I have quite a lot of fonts installed in Windows, including all
the varieties of Arial, as well as Symbol, which gives mostly Greek
letters.
When I uninstalled Symbol.ttf, File compare came up with
readable letters, probably Arial. I am not sure which of my
applications require Symbol, but I'll find out when it misbehaves.
Thanks for your help.
Karl

More to my previous message:
I don't think I had the problem before I ran Live Update. I
have run it several times since I originally installed NU3 in
december97.
I would like trying to reinstall NU. I have the original Version
3.0 CD-ROM and the downloaded nu3-lu06.exe file. Will running those
two reinstall NU without my having to go through live update?
Thanks Karl

Karl,

Yes, you won't have to run LiveUpdate if you have the NU3-LU06.EXE
update.

Vernon,
Well, I did the reinstall and update, and I got the curioous error
message "couldn't complete update because of unrecognized versions of
the files DISKEDIT.PI^ AND NDIAGS.PI^. This obviously refers to
*.PIF files for two of the DOS-based modules. I have had many
previous versions of Norton Utilities. After booting to DOS prompt,
DISKEDIT and NDIAGS worked OK. Do I need to do anything further?

The Greek letters in Diskcompare persisted, but when I uninstalled
SYMBOL.TTF, a readable font appeared, but it isn't Arial. Thus I
have found a way around the problem.
