Norton registry editor crashes with an (06) Exception Error each time
I run it. Not immediately, but soon after it's executed. I'm having
to use Microsoft's REGEDIT program, which works with no problem.
I'm using the latest version (3.6, I think).
Thanks!

John,
The latest version of NU is 3.0.7, but I don't think this has to do
with the problem.
Are you using Personal Web Server? If so, if you turn on security
you'll see this problem. Turn off security and see how that works.

Funny crashgaurd is of no use to help either!
I don't know how to "turn security off" with MS Web Server, but I did
disable it. I got into the Registry Editor, tried to initiate a
random search and *bing* -- my monitor goes black and my system
hangs.
Resetting it, I was able to boot back up, but I'm at a loss as to
what to try next. Up to fairly recently, I used Registry Editor quite
a bit with no problem.
I would uninstall NORTON UTILITIES and reinstall it, but those LU
patches don't always take. (Last time, I had to run LU 3 before LU 6
would take. Weird.)
Any ideas?

Lee,
Are you running Personal Web Server? If so, try turning off security.

John,
Not loading PWS won't solve the problem because it's caused by a
registry entry that is present regardless of whether PWS is running or
not. Check out this knowledge base article which details how to do
it:
