I think I know how this happened. I downloaded a trial utility from
Executive Software (to attempt to retrieve deleted O/S from a Buslink
USB drive). Executive bundled it's undelete utility into the download.
Even though I deleted the file retrieval utility almost immediately, I
didn't notice the sneaky undelete until the next day. It had to be
manually removed, piece by piece.
I recreated the Windows recycle bin, re-enabled Norton Protection
(checked via CMD: NProtect is resident in the windows recycle bin).
However, I can't get it to behave, return to its place on the
properties tab of the Windows desktop bin, and let the bin handle
deletions. Any suggestions?
Actually, I recommend you using really powerful data recovey utils if
you wish to restore. I can pose out Active@ Undelete and Uneraser
(DOS). these utils never failed me before, nor ever corrupted restored
info. That are really useful tools, give it a glance.
