I am using Windows 95c (home) and 95b(work); I use the NU antivirus
SE to scan my disks regularly, while Norton Antivirus Autoprotect
handles the rest. I do have to to a live update twice for each
machine, though - evey month. (hint - how about integrating Norton
Antivirus definitions into NU System doctor for users of both
products?)
Both computers are Pentium (133, 64Meg ram, 233, 32Meg ram) with
about 4 Gig HDD.
On the first sweep by Antivirus SE in JUNE (my computers are set for
about 1 week interval), both computers identified the Blankey.STCN
virus. I had not downloaded anything at home in several weeks, and
the programs I had downloaded at work showed no viruses from Norton
Antivirus Autoprotect. I ran the full Norton Antivirus on both
machines and it came up negative. The Antivirus SE indicated files on
each computer that did not exist - the directories were there, but
the "infected" file wasn't. My work machine cleared up when I
uninstalled the program (Bill Gates Pie Toss screen saver, downloaded
from NONAGs) whose directory was indicated. This file is not on my
home system. My home system indicated that the Quicken Financial
Planner "Tutor.exe" program was infected. Again, this program did not
exist on my system, although the directory did. The home problem
persisted after I deleted the QFP directory.
My home system cleared up tonight after I downloaded new antivirus
definitions for the SE edition. This virus is marked "Rare". Was
there a problem with the May definitions or my recent update of NU
3.0 (I noticed it updated a large amount in the recent Live Update),
or should I do more to my systems? Both are showing clean on the SE
scans now. Thank You.

p.s. I love the Norton Antivirus integration into Netscape!

New virus definitions are available which will resolve the issue.

Hello John,
Yes, there was a problem for some people, but it has been corrected
with the new definitions. Sorry for the scare.
