Is it possible to unformat a hard disk drive?

If it is how would I go about it and what software etc.,
would I need?

Replies by e-mail would be appreciated.

Regards,
Adrian

Adrian:

It is possible to re-format it. However, you will lose everything that is
there. Make sure you have all the program disks and CDs (including windows
etc.) and back up all your date files.

Make sure you make a disk to get yourself back into the computer. A good
suggested place to learn about that is the Microsoft Emergency Rescue Site.

Then you can format it and re-load everything. It's a big job if you have
lots of programs and data.

hmmm there used to be an unformat utility in the good old dos days but i
think it's gone since win95. it only works anyway if you did not write any
data on the disk since you formatted it and if you didn't format it with the
/u parameter which reases the unformat information. maybe some tools like
norton utilities offer the unformat.
