Two programs included in my utilities should be of interest to you. My
"Disk Drive Cleaner", and my "Rosenthal System Workout".
Both these programs do direct hardware control, so it's best to run your
system under DOS while preforming tests, cleaning and exercising the
floppy hardware. Under NT you might want to boot the system from a DOS
system diskette for the best results.
There are some older floppy drive alignment and repair utilities
available, but the cost of floppy drives today is so low it just dosn't
pay to repair them beyond what my "Disk Drive Cleaner". If you have a
bigger problem, simply replace the floppy drive with a new one.

The particular problem that I had was when I was trying to open a floppy
disk in NT the message came up as "Data Cyclic error". The only tool that I
know of is dos 6.22 Scandisk. I used this and it came up with "scandisk
encountered a data error while reading root directory entry number 32". All
disks used are formatted in fat on 3.5" 1.44mb disks. As I have said I only
have scandisk but any other utility would be appreciated. If on a shareware
basis please put the relevant price and if its any good to us we will pay
it.
