Hello Steve,
Can you please go to this URL and run the test on your computer to see
if you are running one of the defective controller card drivers?

http://www.symantec.com/nu/promise.html

Please let me know the results.

Good Luck!

Nope. The program didn't detect a faulty driver. Sorry.

Steve,

The only thing I can think of would be some sort of extraneous garbage
in the partition table chain that NDD is finding. In order to see
this more clearly, I would need to see what is in the partition table.
In order for you to do that, open a DOS window and type in the
following command line:

DISKEDIT /MULTITASK

This will allow you to run Disk Edit in read-only mode under Windows.
(It won't let you make any changes to the drive when running under
Windows.) Hit Alt-D to select the drive, select Physical drives and
then the drive in question. Once you do that you'll see a strange
screen showing a bunch of hexadecimal numbers. Hit the F6 key and
you'll switch to Partition Table View. At that point, you'll see a
table and that's what I want to see. Copy and paste that table into a
response to this message and we can see what's there.
